As a Nurse Practitioner trained in Family Practice and Psychiatric Mental Health I provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and prescribe medication (when appropriate) to treat multiple mental health conditions. I’m a firm believer in the value of therapeutic relationships and shared decision making when it comes to your mental health. I am strengths-focused and an advocate for your ongoing personal recovery process.
Our Team
I, Susanna Haarhoff, “Sasha” to all who know me, am a double board-certified nurse practitioner in Kansas and Missouri. I have been a Registered Nurse (RN) for over 20 years, a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) for over 10 years, and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) since December of 2022. I obtained my Baccalaureate of Science Nursing degree from Boise State University, my Master of Science Nursing FNP and my PMHNP degrees at the University of Missouri Kansas City.
My nursing career has had a mental health focus from the start. From working with families with preschool aged children with special health needs to patients and families dealing with end-of-life considerations, I have strived to provide non-judgmental reassurance, foster self-empowerment, and nurture therapeutic relationships. I believe in an integrated approach to health; the brain is not separate from the body and every person seeking physical health care comes with their own mental health needs. As a FNP I have clinical experience in community mental health and substance use disorder treatment as well as primary and urgent care. My widely varied skill set (including psychopharmacology, use of pharmacogenetic testing, and knowledge of psychotherapy) lends itself well to providing psychiatric medication management and collaborating with therapists and other mental health professionals.
